Title
Situated Geographies: Conjunctures, Institutions, Discourses, and Territorial Images (1890-2003)
Abstract
The project "Situated Geographies: Conjunctures, Institutions, Discourses, and Territorial Images (1890-2003)" is part of a research line with nearly twenty years of continuity, dedicated to the critical study of the institutionalization of Geography in Córdoba and its links with processes of territorial formation. At this stage, it deepens the analysis of four key historical conjunctures, addressing how different disciplinary and political configurations intervened in the symbolic and material construction of the provincial territory. From a situated and relational perspective, the project articulates the social history of geography and studies of territorial formation with contributions from de(s)colonial, feminist, and visual geographies, in order to examine both the forms of knowledge that were legitimized and the exclusions and hierarchies that structure geographic production. Through work with historical archives, interviews, and analysis of an image corpus, the project examines discourses and territorial interventions promoted by academic institutions, courses, and initiatives such as the University Geographic Program or the Institute of Public Administration (UNC). This research seeks to contribute to knowledge about the processes of territorial formation, understood as political technologies, that is, as historical forms of intervention, representation, and control of space, and as fields crossed by epistemic disputes over geographic knowledge. At the same time, it aims to strengthen teaching, research, and academic production within the Geography program, promoting the articulation between teaching and critical inquiry. Likewise, the project advances the consolidation of a documentation center specializing in the territorial history and the history of geography in Córdoba, aimed at preserving, systematizing, and circulating sources relevant to future research.
